Alphabet Date G – Golf Course Camping

golf course camping

After living on a golf course the past 3.5 years, it just seems wrong to not use it for our “G” date. The only problem is, neither Em or I golf. Correction, I am pretty sure that we might be the worst golfers alive. But just because we are bad at golfing doesn’t mean that we can’t use the golf course!

One of the things that I have wanted to do since we moved in was to go camping on the golf course. Because when else do you get a chance to string your hammock on the back 9 holes of a golf course? So Em and I grabbed our hammocks, sleeping bags, and Goodwill golf clubs and headed out for a night out on the golf course.

We used the golf balls that we previously found around the golf course and swung away. The best part about being an awful golfer and playing in the dark is that no one can see how bad you are (or even see you, for that matter). Another advantage to being a bad golfer is that, after hitting about 20 balls each, probably more than half didn’t go further than 20 yards (which just means we got to hit those again! :)

Here’s a video of our night:

Since you can’t go camping without s’mores, but we couldn’t exactly start a campfire in the middle of the green, Em and I found the perfect solution: Nestlé® Drumstick® S’mores! They have three different flavors: Toasted Marshmallow with Fudge (my favorite), Toasted Marshmallow, and Chocolate Marshmallow (Em’s favorite). They tasted great (it’s marshmallow-flavored ice cream covered in a graham cracker and chocolate coating – learn more here) and I didn’t even have to worry about burning my marshmallow like I usually do. :)

Then, 50 feet outside of our apartment, we strung our hammocks, bundled up, and headed to sleep. Sleeping on your backyard golf course isn’t exactly roughing it, but it was a lot of fun to do something a little different! The best part is that, when we woke up freezing at 5AM the next morning, all we had to do was roll out of our hammocks and into our apartment.

Our next date is “H” and Em isn’t telling me what it is :( But hopefully I can find out soon!
