Father’s Day is almost here!
This post is about finding the perfect gift for Father’s Day. One of the most difficult things is deciding what to get your dad on this special day. What doesn’t seem like just a gift for yourself or a project for him? Is there really a gift out there that he’ll actually want?
For me, Father’s Day is a bittersweet day because my dad passed away 6 years ago. But this here isn’t a sad post. I’ve written other posts about my dad, his faith, and what he meant to me. My dad had a great sense of humor, so getting him a Father’s Day gift was always a fun experience for me!
One year as a joke, I literally re-gave him the exact card that I gave him the year before. 😃 I wanted to see if he’d notice or say anything. He had no clue that it was the same card until I told him. He joked back and said that it means 2x as much the second time I gave it to him. My dad loved to tell stories. And usually we loved to listen to them. There were just two problems with dad’s storytelling. #1) He usually repeated the same stories over and over. #2) As all great storytellers tend to do, he would perhaps embellish a few of the details. Now that I’m 30, I’ve really started to take more of an interest in my parents’ life stories.
