Bali Travel Guide

Bali is an incredible destination with so much to see and do. It is one of the many beautiful islands that make up Indonesia, and we highly recommend visiting. Feel free to save this mini Bali travel guide for planning a trip there! A disclaimer is that this is the Bali on a major budget version :) Apologies in advance if you wake up to a lizard in your room! Haha but hopefully this helps give some ideas for Bali and tips for traveling on a budget!

WHERE TO STAY

In general, prices in Bali are relatively cheap – you can stay in luxury villas for much cheaper than a regular hotel in the US. But we prefer to spend as little as possible on housing, so yeah just be prepared for ants to be in your room on the reg – but this is where we stayed!

  • Nusa Penida – Sion Homestay ($6/night)
  • Ubud – Omank Agus Homestay ($10/night)
  • Canggu – The Lima Guesthouse AirBnB ($16/night)
  • Airport – Hilton Garden Inn (see hack below!)

We love travel hacking and this Hilton deal is one of the best credit card hacks I’ve ever found! By opening a $95 Hilton credit card you could stay FOR FREE at that Hilton for 32 nights!! It’s too much to explain in an Instagram post but if you message me I can send you more info.

WHERE TO EAT

We aren’t the best at food recs either because we mostly stick to street food (can’t go wrong with $1 nasi goreng in Bali!), but two of the places we enjoyed getting acai bowls at are Kynd Community and Crate Cafe. They also have Grab (like Uber Eats) if you want a night in!

WHAT TO DO

  • Scooter Rental: Costs around $4/day and fun for exploring the island but be careful! You can easily book transportation through Grab (like Uber) if you don’t want to rent a scooter.
  • Floating Breakfast: These can be expensive (like $100 at a resort) but I spent a few hours researching a place you could experience it for cheap and found one for $5/person! It’s called Beji Ubud Resort (you don’t have to be a guest there) and overlooks the jungle, it’s beautiful.
  • Flower Bath: Lots of places to experience this but The Udaya and Karsa Spa are two of the best.

WHAT TO SEE

This isn’t everything we did, just some of the things that especially stood out (and I’m probably forgetting some places)!

Nusa Penida

  • Kelingking T-Rex Viewpoint
  • Diamond Beach
  • Thousand Islands Viewpoint
  • Rumah Pohon “Tree House”

Ubud Area

  • Teggalang Rice Terraces
  • Cretya Ubud
  • Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

Other

  • Canggu
  • Leke Leke Waterfall
  • Sekumpul Waterfall

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions! We loved our time in Bali and hope to go back someday and explore more of Indonesia!
