College Dorm Checklist: Top 10 Must-Haves

college dorm checklistToday we’re flashing back to when I was in college. Last week, Hudson and I went back to our alma mater Liberty University for a wedding and things have changed SO much! One of the many things I love about Liberty is that they’re always improving…and they just built brand new dorms. So jealous. Anyways, with back to school approaching, I thought I’d share my college dorm checklist. This post is sponsored by Kleenex and Walmart.

College Dorm Checklist

1. Kleenex. Ya always need these for something and they literally work with any decor! The new Kleenex Expression Oval Tissue chevron designs are an especially cool tissue style.

2. Mattress Pad & Cute Comforter. If your dorm room was anything like mine, the bed was HARD. Thankfully, my mom got me a down feather mattress pad that saved the day and literally made my bed so much more comfortable. And then obviously a good comforter. I feel like this is typically the central thing that people see when they walk in. If you’re like me, you got the matching set of comforter, pillow cases, and even an ottoman.

3. Carpet & Hard Floor Cleaner. I’m obsessed with the Shark Sonic Duo – WHY did they not have this when I was in school?! It deep cleans both carpets and hard floors, pulls up dirt and grime, and gets rid of odors. Definitely a must-have for a dorm room!

4. Candle Warmers. We weren’t allowed to have actual candles because of them being a fire hazard, so these were my favorite things ever. Especially love the designs from Westinghouse Warmers.

5. Futon. We had visitors fairly frequently, so it was nice to let them sleep on the couch – instead of trying to share a twin bed. :)

6. Keurig. I mean who DOESN’T need caffeine in college? I was always jealous of the people who had Keurigs in their dorm rooms because it made everything so much simpler.

7. Microwave. I learned how to make a LOT of things in a microwave instead of an oven. Favorite thing was probably thin mints. I’ll have to share the recipe for that sometime :)

8. Decor. Good decor is EVERYTHING in a girls’ dorm room. I’m obsessed with the design ideas from Furbish Studio. And seriously how cute are these Mr. & Mrs. glasses?

9. Cute Clothes. Can’t forget having a closet stocked with cute clothes. I sure wish I knew about Shop Riffraff when I was in college. Literally obsessed with those styles.

10. Printer. Some of my friends literally went to the library each time they had to print something. I had a printer, but apparently lived in the stone ages where I had to plug in my computer to the printer each time. If I were in college now, I’d get this wireless HP printer. I love that you can even print from a smartphone or tablet, and that their instant ink program makes ink show up at your door when the printer is running low!

So there you have it; my top 10 items for a college dorm checklist! Walmart was my go-to store for everything I needed to get my space set up. What was yours? Share below anything on your college dorm checklist that I may have missed!
