Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
We had such a nice week spending time with both of our families. We loved every minute of it – there’s just something about being home with family that I can’t get enough of. I am so thankful both of our families are from the same town, because we can spend time with both of them instead of having to choose one or the other to visit.
And although Hudson and I only live about an hour and a half from our families, it still can sometimes be difficult living away from them. That’s why I love this Western Union video about home cooked meals so much. Have you seen it?
In the video, three people are treated to home cooked meals (directed by their family members with a special family recipe) and then gifted a flight home to visit their families. To me, a trip home is one of the best gifts I could receive. When the lady at the end was crying, it made me tear up!
And there is just something about home cooked meals that connect people with what they’ve missed about home. For me, one of my favorite home cook meals is baby back ribs and potatoes. Such a good old American, country dinner. My mom cooked it just last night as our final meal before Hudson and I hit the road for Maryland again, and somehow it reminds me of home no matter where I am.
I really like how Western Union connects people from around the world in this video by first asking what they miss about home and then surprising them with home cooked meals like this! I think they really understand that food is a source of connecting a person’s family and culture, because a lot of Western Union customers are what they call “Dual-Belongers.” These people’s hearts are in two places, because they are from one location but live in another – whether for education, a career, or lifestyle. Western Union’s goal is to be a lifeline for those customers, connecting them to their families and friends around the world.
