I don’t know about your friends, but mine are OBSESSED with football. College or NFL, everyone has their favorite. And the fact that we have two big NFL teams within a half hour of us doesn’t help the competition :)

So for the first preseason game, we of course decided to throw a party…and today I’ll share some of the dessert recipes with you. You know the party wouldn’t be complete without some great football party food.

We may or may not have spent the evening flipping back and forth in between games so we could see both teams! I guess our extra $25 a month more charge for internet (oh and they threw in tv too for “free”…right) came in handy for something.

I was more occupied holding our friends’ two-month old baby to really watch the game :) But it was a great evening, one of those nights where you walk away thinking, I’m so glad for friends like these.

Before the party, I went to Sam’s Club and bought a box of 48 SNICKERS® bars, a 105-count variety bag of MARS candy, and some other ingredients to make some SNICKERS® dessert recipes – Hudson’s favorite! Felt a few eyes on me as I walked out with the equivalent of thousands worth of calories, but hey, so worth it for good football party food.

Snickers Sam's Club

The football party food I made was SNICKERS® chocolate popcorn, SNICKERS® chocolate peanut butter footballs, and SNICKERS® chocolate cupcakes. Here are the dessert recipes:

chocolate peanut butter footballs

SNICKERS® Chocolate Peanut Butter Footballs Recipe

1 16 ounce-package confectioners’ sugar
1 cup Skippy creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon milk
16 1-ounce squares semi-sweet chocolate
2 SNICKERS® bars
1 bottle white cake icing

Mix confectioners’ sugar, peanut butter, butter, and milk. Chop SNICKERS® bars into tiny pieces, and add to mixture. (I didn’t add these until after shaping the peanut butter eggs, which made it more difficult). Then, shape eggs into “footballs” and place on cookie sheet and freeze for 1 hour. Melt chocolate over medium heat, stirring until smooth, then dip each peanut butter egg and place on waxed paper. Once finished, design football stripes with the white cake icing!

SNICKERS chocolate popcorn

SNICKERS® Chocolate Popcorn Recipe

2 bags popcorn
3 SNICKERS® bars

This was so easy! I ran the SNICKERS® bars through the food processor, melted the tiny pieces (stirring frequently), dumped it over the popped popcorn, and mixed!

SNICKERS cupcake recipe

SNICKERS® Chocolate Cupcakes Recipe

1 box cupcake or cake mix and ingredients on box
1 can chocolate icing
2 SNICKERS® bars
1 bottle white cake icing

Cut SNICKERS® bars into inch pieces. Follow directions on box for cupcake mix but, before placing in oven, place a SNICKERS® piece inside the batter each muffin cup. Once baked, let cool, then ice with chocolate and design football stripes with the white cake icing!

We had a really great time, especially because both the teams we were cheering for won. Can’t wait until our next party!!
