Once a week, Em and I try to have a date night, although lately we have not been the best at sticking to that plan. Some of the biggest excuses for us not having our weekly date night are that we don’t have time or we don’t want to spend the money. So, when that happens, we fall back to our secret recipe for creating an easy, successful date night: Favorites, Fun and Food!

1) Favorites:
When we are having a hard time thinking of new date ideas, we find it a lot easier to do something that we already know we enjoy. In this case, we chose to have a board game night. Of course since Em was the one picking the game, we played Monopoly. This is one of her favorite games and probably one of the games I am worst at (which might be one of the reasons she likes it so much!). For Monopoly, we have our own home rules to make it a little easier (and quicker) to play with just two people. But no matter what rules we use, I usually end up losing =/

2) Fun:
Playing a board game is fun, but something that makes it extra exciting is increasing the stakes. Usually that means that the winner gets a back massage or doesn’t have to do the dishes or make dinner. For this game night, folding laundry was the chore on the line. I don’t have the best winning record when it comes to these high stake date nights!

3) Food:
No good date night would be complete without food! Our choice of food for this date consisted of Ellio’s Pizza. One of the best parts about the pizza is that we didn’t have to go out to pick it up or wait and then tip a delivery guy. It’s also made with the freshest ingredients, 100% real cheese and no artificial flavors. We usually pick Ellio’s because it is so reasonably priced and easy to find at most grocery stores. Plus, it’s available in six yummy flavors. Visit the store locator on Ellios.com to find some near you, and follow Ellio’s on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and/or Instagram if you wish you could eat pizza every day. :)

Having pizza definitely helped cushion the fact that Em (once again) beat me at Monopoly. All in all though, it was as really great date night! Looks like I have some laundry to start folding! ;)
