Thankful Thursday

thankful thursdaysSometimes I get so caught up in the busyness of life that I forget to be thankful. So today I’m taking a moment to just sit back, breathe, and thank God for all His blessings.

Here are some specific things I’m thankful for this week:

  • I’m thankful our bikes weren’t stolen. We keep them on our patio, and some awesome person decided it would be a good idea to cut and burn the wire rope in an effort to steal the bikes. How sweet. Good thing they failed, but it’s an unfortunate wake-up call that this little world of ours isn’t always as safe as I like to believe it is. Thankfully, one of the clients I do marketing for is a security company, and they gave us a security system. So now we can watch a live video feed of our bikes all day long, and catch the culprit before he tries to break into our home. And good luck to him if he does, because that alarm is L-O-U-D.
  • I’m thankful that the weekend is almost here. Last weekend, we traveled to our hometown of Lancaster for a bridal shower and graduation party, as well as the annual Tomato Festival. Yes, a festival in honor of tomatoes. If you haven’t been there, you’re missing out. It’s seriously one of my summer highlights. We had such a fun time catching up with family and friends! And, we have another great weekend planned this coming weekend. Starting with a blo-out at Blo Gaithersburg, a new blow dry bar in partnership with Gwyneth Paltrow and David Babaii. If you live in Maryland, you HAVE to go. I’ve never gotten a blo-out before, so let me know if you have any tips!

  • I’m thankful for summer. Seriously, there’s just something about warm weather that makes me happy. Last night, Hudson and the guys played basketball at the park, and us wives sat on the sidelines — cheering them on, chatting, and holding our friend’s 8-week old baby. It was a perfect night…until someone announced that the sun is starting to set earlier, and before we know it, it’ll be winter again. I’m choosing to not believe that :) Instead, I want to treasure these moments and be outside in this beautiful weather as much as I can!

  • I’m thankful for good stationery. There’s just something about writing on cute little notecards that makes me happy. And believe me, I’ve started quite the collection. I’m a big believer in hand-written notes, and was thrilled when I heard about Minted’s new foil-pressed stationery. I’ve always been a fan of their personalized thank-you notes and kids’ birthday party invitations, but this foil-pressed stationery is taking it to the next level. Look how beautiful it is!
  • I’m thankful for this blog. Sometimes I forget why I started this thing. It wasn’t to make money blogging. It was to record our life and share my heart, in an effort to be an encouragement to others. Somewhere along the way I decided to get a full-time job which, although I love it, has unfortunately limited the time I can spend on here. But Hudson reminded me yesterday of how blessed we are to have this platform, and to have connected with so many of you wonderful readers. Thank YOU for being an encouragement to our lives and for following along on this journey we call life!

What are you thankful for this week? I would love to hear!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
