Yesterday, Hudson shared about how the new Jawbone UP MOVE™ has been integral in getting both of us back on track with our exercise goals. Two of our other goals have been to do a better job of tracking what we eat and how we sleep. And thankfully, in addition to tracking our exercise, the Jawbone UP MOVE™ has also made this very simple for us!
Other apps I have used focused on just exercise tracking, nutrition tracking, or sleep tracking – not all in one like the Jawbone UP MOVE™ and its app do! I’ll share a little more about each of the features…
Nutrition Tracking
I love the simplicity of this food logging tool, and that it will track as little or as much as I want. It’s so neat that it shows both the calories and nutrients of what I’m eating! I’ve found that the easiest thing is to use the app’s barcode scanner to capture the nutrition label information – it will auto-populate everything for me – but they also offer a food database and restaurant menu search if you aren’t able to scan a barcode.
This came in handy the other week when Hudson and I went out to eat for our anniversary dinner. There was obviously not a barcode to scan for my meal, but I wanted to make sure I logged it – and I was able to easily pull it up through the restaurant menu search.
The best part is that “Smart Coach” (more on that below) gives each meal a food score – because eating well means more than just counting calories – and provides healthy eating tips.
Sleep Tracking
The best part of this is that it doesn’t just track hours of sleep, but also my quality of sleep. Who knew that a device could know that?! It detects light, sounds, and more to give me a report each morning. And then Smart Coach provides personalized recommendations for how I can wake up feeling refreshed!
Through using the sleep tracking feature, I realized that I had only been getting about 6-7 hours of sleep each night, when I should be getting a minimum of 7 with a goal of even more. So I am working on going to bed earlier and not using electronics once in bed to help me get better sleep.
Goal Tracking
My favorite part of the goal tracking features the UP® provides is its Smart Coach! As I mentioned above, it gives personalized recommendations about exercise, nutrition, sleep, and more. It truly feels like I have a personal trainer motivating me and giving advice – except because it analyzes all of the data, I feel like it knows me even better than a person would! It does a great job of providing insight to help me reach my goals.
The goals are super easy to set up — from steps per day, to hours slept, to target weight. There is just something about seeing a milestone reached that is incredibly motivating!
Are you looking to get healthier? If so, I highly recommend checking out the UP MOVE™. What are some of your goals for the rest of 2015?
