I haven’t written much about fitness and health on our blog because, to be honest, it hasn’t been a priority for us this past year. We’ve made excuses about being too busy etc…but recently, we’ve decided that’s not cutting it anymore. We’ve made a commitment to work out regularly and eat healthier. And I am really excited to share some of our health goals with you!

One (of many) strong motivating factors for me to get in good shape is Walgreen’s Balance Rewards program. Like most store rewards programs, you can obviously earn rewards for featured items of the week. But what I love about this program is that they ALSO reward you for setting health goals and making healthy choices!

I’ve always said that if someone would pay me to be healthy, I would do it. And this is essentially that! You get 20 points per mile or daily weigh-in you enter. You get 250 points for setting your first health goals!

And beyond just fitness rewards, you also get Balanced Rewards points for other healthy choices – like prescriptions and blood pressure/glucose tests. In total, you can earn up to $50 with your rewards points!

So here’s a day in the life of using Walgreen’s Balance Rewards to meet my health goals.

1. Went to Walgreens and purchased some vitamins. My great-grandma is still going strong at 95 years old, and she attributes a LOT of that to being consistent with taking lots of Vitamin C.

2. Connected with MyFitnessPal to my Walgreens Balance Rewards app. What I love about Balance Rewards is that it syncs with the apps and devices you already use.

3. Hud and I took our bikes out for a ride to a park about a mile from us. Even though we live in between two large cities, I am SO thankful our apartment complex is in an area with LOTS of land and parks around! (Side note: Just the other day, there was a deer grazing right outside our window!)

4. We then drove to Great Falls in DC, and went hiking along the rapids (see photo above). It was beautiful! We sat on the rocks and had a little picnic. I loved the feeling of not only getting in shape, but also being able to spend quality time with Hudson!

5. I made sure to enter in everything!
