Hudson and I made a delicious meal last night that I thought I’d share today! With back to school time being busy for Hudson working at the University of Maryland, we’ve been trying to develop a new routine – and part of that is coming up with new, easy and delicious recipes! This ham pot pie recipe is one of our new favorites :)
Easy Ham Pot Pie
- 1 prepared pie crust
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 small onion
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 1/2 cup beef stock
- 1/2 cup half & half
- 3 oz shredded cheese
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 2 cups frozen mixed veggies
- 2 1/2 cups diced Smithfield All Natural ham
1. Dice onion. Melt butter in a large saucepan, and saute onion for 5 minutes.
2. Stir in flour to form a roux.
3. Whisk in beef stock until blended, about 1/4 cup at a time.
4. Whisk in the half and half.
5. Add cheese, stirring until well blended.
6. Add the seasonings, veggies, and ham.
7. Stir well, then remove from heat.
8. Place bottom pie crust in a greased 9″ pan.
9. Pour in pie filling. Place top crust and seal edges with a fork. Slice or poke holes in top.
10. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour, or until done.
Look how delicious it turned out!! It made for a delicious romantic dinner together :) And I love how easy this ham pot pie recipe was to prepare!
The other great thing about this recipe is that, thanks to Smithfield being committed to making all natural pork products, the ham we used was made without artificial ingredients, preservatives or added steroids or hormones. As you know, Hudson and I have been attempting to live a more healthy lifestyle and part of that means choosing all natural food as much as we can.
