Escape Room Game

escape room game

Home is wherever I’m with you – but I’ve loved our home being back in Lancaster the past couple months!

Living directly between both of our families has been amazing. I’ve been able to attend my brother’s volleyball/quiz bowl matches, my dad comes over to help us with our RV just about every other day, I got to have both lunch with my mom and dinner with my sister the same day last week, and we love having both familiess over for cookouts & games. As excited as we are for our trip, we’ve also really loved this “time in between.”

Last week we had our families over for yet another burger cookout (so simple and so fun!) and to play a new game we received called Escape Room: The Game. We were really excited about this game because we had done an actual escape room with our friends before and absolutely loved it! Even though I am not the best at riddles, it was very fun and a great way to build community.

We love having people over for dinner but sometimes struggle with what to do afterwards – keep talking for another two hours straight, play the same games we’ve played a million times before, or try something new that may or may not end up being fun. So, having known how much fun the escape room was, we were super excited to hear that there was a board game of this same thing that (1) could be something new to try and (2) we would know ahead of time was great!

While Hudson cooked the burgers, I set up the game and was excited to see that there were four different “scenarios” that could be played: Prison Break, Nuclear Countdown, Virus, and Temple of the Aztec. I was curious if once you had played it the first time, you couldn’t play it again, so that was great to see that it could be played for different times – and for the price, that is incredible! The price of the whole game (for four different scenarios, and up to six people) is the same price as a ticket to one escape room for only two people. So totally worth it!

How Escape Room: The Game works is that you have 60 minutes to work together, find hidden clues, and solve puzzles to escape. By correctly entering a four key combination into the “Chrono Decoder,” you successfully escape.

We chose the “Nuclear Countdown” scenario and had such a fun time playing! I am not the best at riddles and anything related to math so I was very thankful to have my brother on our team, who is amazing at those types of things. :) But even still I really enjoyed the game and loved the idea of working together as a team to complete a mission!

This would be a great idea to buy as a Christmas gift for friends or family, or host a party with around the holidays. I just love the idea of bringing the excitement of an escape room to your home!
