Our 4th Anniversary Celebration: DC Dinner Cruise

DC dinner cruiseOn June 2nd, Em and I celebrated our 4th anniversary. It really does not seem that long ago that we were walking back out the church aisle together as a brand new married couple. And, fortunately, I have yet to forget our wedding anniversary! That is not because of my memory, but because I had it engraved on the inside of my wedding band for such reminders. :) I feel like most guys get something really meaningful or profound engraved into their bands, but not me! The only thing I could think was “hey if I get our anniversary date engraved in this band then, every time I take off my band to spin it like a quarter on a countertop, I’ll be reminded that I should start planning something for our anniversary.” It has served me well for the past 4 years and will hopefully keep working ;)

This anniversary, Em and I wanted to take advantage of living right next to such a cool and unique city like DC. So we did some research and found that there are dinner cruises that sail up and down the Potomac River at night. We both thought what better way to celebrate our anniversary than cruising past the DC monuments and eating awesome food!

So Em and I got our tickets and headed down to DC to go sailing down the Potomac with Odyssey Cruises, which is one of the Entertainment Cruises brands. The ship itself was really awesome. It was essentially a floating glass box. So no matter which way you looked, you were able to see DC’s beautiful sights lit up under the night sky. The food was awesome! We were served braised beef and crab cakes as we cruised past the Lincoln Memorial. (I consider any night that involves consuming meat and seafood a great success!)

The Odyssey ship also had a live band. Which was so good that it wasn’t until halfway through our cruise that I realized that it was a live band playing and not just a recording! There was also a dance floor that Em and I used to show off our very poor dance moves and make complete fools of ourselves! (Em always tries to remind me that the point of dancing is to have fun and not to win awards. Which is a good thing for me because I sure wouldn’t be winning awards ;)

Em and I had a lot of fun being able to relax and share with each other memories that we’ve had together in the past 4 years. I can’t wait to see what the next 4 years for us hold! (Hopefully as long as I keep spinning my ring I won’t forget any of those anniversary dates either! =)
