Hudson and I are always looking for creative date night ideas.
Recently, we’ve found that it’s easiest to get creative when we plan the date around a certain theme.
This week, because of the release of Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier on DVD, we decided to make a date night in based around Captain America!
Hudson was so cute; he wore his Captain America shirt and everything!
It’s fun seeing the “little” boy side in him (typically Mr. strong man) come out when we’re watching superhero movies!
Are your husbands the same way? I think adults love Captain America just as much as kids too!
The other thing I think adults love just as much as kids is M&M’s®! So I decided to get creative with a fun M&M recipe, and thought I’d share that with you today :)
Captain America Shield Cake Recipe with M&M’s
Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix
1 stick of Butter
1 Egg
Bag of Regular M&M’s
Chocolate Icing
White Cake Icing
1. Separate the blue and red M&M’s for the Captain America shield from the other M&M’s. This was the most difficult part for us – someone (cough cough, Hudson) wanted to eat all the M&M’s before we even made the recipe!
2. Mix the butter and egg (and any other ingredients needed for cookie mix) and bake cookie cake according to package directions.
3. Wait until the cake cools. (This was ALSO difficult for us – it smelled SO good and was hard to resist!)
4. Ice the cake with the chocolate icing.
5. Draw a small star with the white cake icing.
6. Add a line or two of red M&M’s directly outside the white cake icing star.
7. Add a line or two of blue M&M’s directly outside the red M&M’s.
8. And then you have yourself a Captain America Shield Cake! Eat and enjoy while you watch the new DVD!!
