You know those dates where just about nothing seems to go right, but you still have a blast anyway?
That was our experience with camping at Assateague. Our escapade consisted of:
- driving 3 hours to find that the camp we had a reservation for was gated & closed for the night
- walking 2 miles in the pitch black with heavy bags in search of our campsite
- giving up around 1:30AM & sleeping in our van in the parking lot
- waking up at 6AM to see the sunrise, only problem was it was so overcast you couldn’t see the sun
- realizing we were at the completely wrong camp & all we had to do was drive 2 miles in the opposite direction we walked
Definitely more of an adventure than we anticipated, but definitely a story we’ll look back and laugh at someday (aka today)! When we were lost, all we could say was “there’s no one I’d rather do this with than you.” :)
